Japanese immigrants brought Jodo Shinshu Buddhism to Hawaii and North America more than 100 years ago. The largest mainland U.S.A. Shin group eventually took the name Buddhist Churches of America, or BCA. The BCA has helped its members weather racism, ignorance of the Buddhadharma, and cultural change for over 100 years. In 2006 the Northampton Shin Buddhist Sangha became formally affiliated with the BCA.
